Luella M Ramos, 85, of New York, NY, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024 in New York, NY.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at Church of the Epiphany on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11:00am with Reverend Austin Titus officiating. The Church of the Epiphany is located on 22nd Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.  The Gannon Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Luella was born in Siasi, Sulu in the Philippines to Alberto and Bonita Malicsi on June 26, 1938.  She immigrated to the US by way of Canada in the late 1960s and worked as a nurse at Beth Israel Hospital for nearly 30 years before retiring.  Luella had a long list of activities and hobbies that she enjoyed.  She loved the action of traveling,  watching Broadway musicals, regularly taking aerobics classes and trips to Atlantic City.  But she also loved more serene hobbies such as reading and knitting. Luella was a devout Catholic and was regularly seen attending mass.  More than anything else, Luella was happiest when she was hosting holiday parties for her family and closest friends.

Luella is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jose L Ramos, Jr. of New York, NY and her son, Joseph Albert Ramos of Boston, MA.  Additionally, Luella was a beloved grandmother to Benjamin Joseph Ramos (23), Sydney Elizabeth Ramos (21) and Lucas Alec Ramos (19) of North Andover, MA. Being the fourth child in a household with eleven children, Luella was loved by numerous nieces and nephews and was commonly thought of as one of their favorite Titas.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.  Finally, the Ramos family wishes to extend their gratitude to Luella’s loving team of healthcare workers, nurses and social workers that cared for her as if she was one of their own family members.
